Urinary Infections, Struvite Calculus, FUS.
Urinary System Infections. They occur when bacteria, which normally live in and around the lower urinary tract, invade the urethra and infect the urinary bladder, which is sterile under normal conditions. Most infections occur when the urine is alkaline, while an acid urine prevents bacterial infection.
Calculations / Crystals in the Bladder. Struvite stones are formed when certain types of bacteria that are seen in chronic infections of the urinary tract, break down the urea converting it into ammonia. The ammonia is then combined with phosphorus and magnesium and the stones are formed. Acid urine helps prevent infections and consequently stone formation.
